The story of one man, Henry Oertelt, and how he survived the perils brought on by being a Jew in Nazi Germany. He summed up his heart-wrenching survival story by describing the most significant events as individual chains being linked together. Each chain tells a story of what he did, what skills or luck he had, and the people he has met that let him take the next step to ensuring his survival. If one of the chains were weak, susceptible to breaking, or unlinked, he never would've made it. But he did. Given the chance to continue living, he has written this partly as his contribution towards the efforts made to silence people's outrageous claims that the holocaust never happened, as well as pass on his story. Mr. Oertelt has produced a novel that testifies to the horror that ensues upon leaving hatred, racism, and bigotry unchallenged and ignored- and as a reminder to try and never let such vile things happen again.
