A terrible fire in a wealthy suburban home leaves a married couple dead and Detective Lindsay Boxer and her partner Rich Conklin searching for clues. And after California's golden boy, Michael Campion has been missing for a month, there finally seems to be a lead in his case--a very devastating lead.

As fire after fire consume couples in wealthy, comfortable homes, Lindsay and the Murder Club must race to find the arsonists responsible and get to the bottom of Michael Campion's disappearance. But suddenly the fires are raging too close to home.

Frightened for her life and torn between two men, Lindsay must find a way to solve the most daunting dilemmas she's ever faced--at work and at home.

UGH! This series is really going downhill fast. Book 6 was not great, and this one was worse. I am so tired of authors turning complex, intelligent female characters into empty-headed dimwits mooning over men. I will try the next book in the series but if it goes the way of the previous two then that will be it for me for this series.

This was the best of the series so far. The ending was GREAT!

When a couple are found burned to death, Detective Lindsay Boxer and her partner Rich Conklin get the call to respond to the house. Someone is targeting wealthy people and burning them alive. Michael Campion has a heart disease and is missing. Now they also have to try to find out what happened to him. This is a page turner from beginning to end.

Another fun read, that flows well, with a nice surprising ending. I enjoyed this book, one of the better ones in this particular series.

It feels like a blending of "the Practice" meets "Sex in the City" but it doesn't live up to either of their standards of sensationalism or implausibility.

Probably only of interest to those who are fan's of the "Women's Murder Club" series (That started with 1st to Die). It revolves around four women who are involved with crime in various professions; A homicide detective, an assistant DA, a medical examiner and a crime journalist. The focus is on their lives more than it is the various cases they investigate.

"These kids are show-offy smart." Joe said. "Quidquid latin dictum sit, altum videtur." -- "And that means what?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. Did everyone know Latin but me? -- Joe flashed me a grin. "It means, `Anything said in Latin sounds profound.`"
