Absolutely my favorite book, ever! I remember in high school reading this and having bought 3 other paperback copies to pass out to my friends. We all read it because it is truly a great read. Summer readers, this is where you start. I loved the pacing, the friendship these two have for one another is remarkable.
The author is a noted YA author and this is one of his best books!
Bound together as “terminal uglies” since junior high, Eric Calhoune and Sarah Bryne’s friendship is a testament to trust, devotion and courage thanks to Chris Crutcher’s book, Staying Fat for Sarah Brynes. I truly enjoyed this book and think it would be an excellent choice for a teen book discussion. The plot is interesting and the characters enjoyable—however a slight hint of caution as there are some mature themes of abortion and attempted suicide.
