When James Henry Trotter accidentally drops some magic crystals by the old peach tree, strange things start to happen. The peach at the top of the tree begins to grow, and before long it's as big as a house. Then James discovers a secret entranceway into the fruit, and when he crawls inside, he meets a bunch of marvelous oversized friends, Old-Green-Grasshopper, Centipede, Ladybug, Miss Spider, and more. After years of feeling like an outsider in the house of his despicable Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker, James has finally found a place where he belongs. With a snip of the stem, the peach starts rolling away, and the exciting adventure begins!

I loved the rhyming centipede and the positive spin that Roald uses to portray the insects. This is my first Roald Dahl book and I can understand why he is popular. He tells a great story.

Strange, magical things start happening when James accidentally drops some magic crystals under a withered old peach tree in his mean aunts' yard. A peach at the top of the tree starts to grow, and grow, and grow, and soon, James is off on an amazing adventure with his new friends - a group of giant bugs and insects - all living inside the amazing giant peach. Narrated by Julian Rhind-Tutt, this is one of the best of the new audio book releases of Dahl's work. Recommended for all!
