I have been avoiding this book thinking it would be boring but after I read it I seriously doubted waiting this long to read it.

James lives with his two aunts who treat him badly, but one day a man leaves several unique seeds that one day grow into a giant peach. He discovers several other critters that eventually become his friends. Together they travel overseas discovering new things about one another. However, what will occur once their trip comes to an end?

James and the Giant Peach is one of my favorite classics to read as a young child. The fictional moments bring joy with the help of Dahl's creative imagination. Just like each Rahl Dahl's book, there are cute illustrations on the side of the majority of the pages. I think the story is beautiful and touching and would definitely recommend the story to others of all ages.

James and the Giant Peach is a classic that every young child should read. It is about a boy named James who is forced to live with his strict aunts. One day, he finds a peach on a peach tree that never bore fruit before. He was surprised because he had never even seen any leaves on this particular tree, let alone fruits! His aunts made James work extra hard to make the peach grow bigger. One night, he has a strange feeling that pulls him towards the peach tree. A mysterious man appears in the bushes and hands James a bag full of tiny green emeralds. He gives strict instructions to brew the emeralds in steaming hot water and feed them to his strict aunts. The man tells James that if he does this, he will have a great, flourishing life. Then, the man vanished as quickly as he appeared. James briskly turns home, but as he walks, he trips on a tree root and the bag bursts open. The emeralds seep out of the bag and into the soil. The next week, he finds that the peach has grown much, much, much larger, and is now the size of a basketball. It continues growing, until it is the size of a house! Again, he has the same pulling towards the peach. Somehow, James finds a trapdoor and crawls inside. He soon meets four unidentified creatures, who look like different insects. James embarks on a journey with them to save the peach from his cruel aunts and to find himself a safe place to call home. I recommend this book because it is full of adventure and imagination, and is a truly exciting tale.

If you're a fan of comedy, coming-of-age tales and magical realism, James and the Giant Peach is a Roald Dahl masterpiece you will enjoy. A humble and youthful James is submerged in an English town with overbearing, helicopter aunts who amuse themselves with their sarcasm, wit and taunting. He is ridiculed and bullied psychologically somewhat mercilessly by these two women who appear outwardly and socially to care for him yet treat him with disdain, loathing and as though he is a second-class citizen, as some readers may argue. James is able to be freed from the mental stonewall his aunts have created when he stumbles upon an enormous peach that guides him to his realms of imagination and to an enchanting land where is free, safe and welcomed with open arms; in the same vein escaping the vitriol of his miserable and obnoxious aunts. James and the Giant Peach is an amalgam novel that will have you laughing, crying and wondering in one sitting and perhaps will have you develop an affinity for the brilliant, astute writing characteristic of Roald Dahl, one of the world's most beloved youth and young adult authors. - Review Written by Danielle

After so many years, I’ve finally come back to Roald Dahl’s books. As much as I love some of his other books, I’d have to say that of those I have read, this one is my favorite. A wild adventure with great characters and a touch of magic is just what I love.

If you pick up this book, you will find a rollicking good time with a little boy named James. After spilling some magic crystals, a giant peach blooms on a tree, and inside it are some enormous insects. Terrifying as they look, they are really the kindest and most interesting of creatures. After cutting the stem, the adventure begins.

Journey across the ocean with little James, the Old Green Grasshopper, Mr. Earthworm, Mrs. Ladybug, Miss Spider, Mr. Centipede, the Glow-worm, and the Silkworm in this mesmerizing tale that is as much for adults as children. Recommended to the young and the young at heart, this is a wonderful journey from a beloved children’s author that will take your breath away. Enjoy!

This story is about a boy named James who was sent to live with his malicious aunts, Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker. I loved the underlying theme of friendship since everyone cared about each other and tried to escape the Cloud-Men. James bonded with Miss Spider, Centipede, Old-Green-Grasshopper, Ladybug, Earthworm, and a few others. Together these creatures traveled across the Atlantic Ocean. My favourite character was Mrs. Spider because she is kind-hearted and acted as a caring mother figure towards James. Anything scribed by Dahl is sure to be a hit, and this book just proves how amazing he is! James embarks on a mission away from his cruel aunts alongside his giant peach and the insects that it holds. It will be a big hit amongst the younger audiences, and the film adaptation is a great accompaniment. With happiness and grief mixed into one, this a children's book that allows the reader to experience it all!

As always, Roald Dahl spins the most fantastic wonderful tales for children and James and the Giant Peach is up there with his greatest ones. It is also a wonderful animated film. Don't deprive your children of fantastic stories such as this one - there are one in a million!.
