Not quite as good as the other two books in the series, in my opinion. Grandma Dowdel is still there, still doing the same hijinks, but they don't seem quite as funny this time around. There are some good parts, like the Kickapoo Indian princess, and the ten-year-old learning to drive, with stolen Christmas trees on top of the car and old Mrs. Wilcox bouncing around the back seat. But other parts, like Phyllis's "romance" with the 20-year-old, and Grandma Dowdel's scheme to send him off to war or to prison, are just not funny at all.
